People feel safer in Ocean City. They think the streets are cleaner, the people friendlier and the general way of life a little better than in most of the other shore towns up and down the Jersey coast.
River surfing: the sport of choice for those who lack a coast. by Andrew Mentzer Without an ocean nearby, you’d think someone living in landlocked Idaho with a yearning to hang ten would be left hanging out to dry. It seems a bit counterintuitive for the Gem State, but wave lovers can carve out some serious fun right here at home.… [ Read more ] [ Subscribe to the comments on this story ]

The name of the small village Grintsing was first mention in the annals in 1114. For its tiny size, however, the town has an enviable rich history – in 1529 was destroyed by the Turks and only rebuilt. In 1604 the village was ruined by fire. In 1683 the Turks again razed it profoundly, and in 1809 the same thing was made by the French army.

Nothing, however, did not stop the natural course of the time. People of the Grintsing continued to build their houses and planted a lot of vineyards. And this is what makes Grintsing so special – the wine. Anyone can buy a square meter of vines and produce a fascinating wine. Among the owners of vineyards in the area are the Pope, Dalai Lama, Sophia Loren and Jimmy Carter.

In 1784, Kaiser Joseph II provides the Viennese wine producers the privilege to trade their products with no trade or business license as much as 300 days per year. This rule is vivid and today. Grintsing owns a lot more than 720 acres of vines. These days, Grintsing is part of Vienna, found in the region of Dyobling and is noted for its Heuriger – wineries, serving fine wines from local harvests, especially popular new wine in the area. It is possible to taste these wines and pair them with local delicacies for instance Bratlfettn-Brot (bread with fried meat) and traditional live music.

Grintsing is a particularly beautiful area, situated among the green forests, mountain streams and true architectural masterpieces. The nature of the village has inspired the works of many composers for example Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert.

Kaasgrabenkirche, Roman style church is a landmark that every visitor of Grintsing should see. The temple was built in 1903. The name of Kaasgrabenkirche,as the temple is called, and the area in which it is built probably comes from Kasewasser, water with a color like cheese, but the explanation is the presence of mineral springs in the area with water rich in iron and sulfur. The building was built in neo-baroque style and the walls inside are decorated with stone reliefs. According to the legend, a young woman was picking berries in the woods with her children, when she heard the arrival of the Turkish troops. This happens during the second siege of Vienna in 1683. The woman took cover in the bushes, but the soldiers followed her steps and found her and her children. Then Virgin Mary appeared and saved the woman and her children from the Turks. In gratitude, the woman made small donation which laid down the foundation of the church.

If you want to spend a quiet and joyful vacation – Grintsing is your place. Fine wine, great food, quiet and peaceful place where you can spend many memorable and wonderful moments.
